About

The Toivala Foundation was established in 1987 to bring together forestry professionals and people from North Savo who are interested in development cooperation. Our aim is to disseminate knowledge and expertise in Finland and to promote rural development in developing countries through projects and training.

The foundation was founded by the Northern Savo Regional Council and the Municipality of Siilinjärvi. Our partners include the University of Eastern Finland, Savo Vocational and Adult College, the Northern Savo Development Association, the province's natural resource education and research institutions, and non-governmental organizations.

Most of our activities are focused on forestry development projects in Africa.
